How we built the Yuvo Slots Available Poster Maker

The choices behind the free Slots Available Poster Maker: why it starts with the sport, how it treats passed slots, and what it keeps on your phone.

Laptop poster tool and phone poster for the invented venue Yuvo Sports Park, numbered: pick the sport, type five slots, share to WhatsApp.

We built the Yuvo Slots Available Poster Maker around one job: turn a few typed slots into a WhatsApp poster, with no account. It starts from the sport, keeps what you type on your phone, leaves out slots that have already passed, and prints times and prices a captain can read at a glance.

Below is how it came together, with the dates taken from our own commit history. The example venue throughout is Yuvo Sports Park, which is invented.

Why is the poster maker free and open to anyone?

Because a poster is the quickest way to show an owner what Yuvo does, and an owner should not need an account to find out. The page says Free and no sign up, and it means it. You type your slots, tap share and pick the group.

The poster is drawn in the browser from what you type, so there is no venue lookup and nothing to log in to. If the poster helps, the booking page behind it is the next step, and that is Yuvo for Venues.

Why does it ask for the sport before the slots?

Because a slot means something different in each sport. On 21 October we moved the tool to a sport first model, so the sport row now sits at the top of the page, with cricket first.

Cricket slots can be for both teams, for one team that wants an opponent, or for nets. Football, basketball and volleyball slots say both teams or one team. Racquet and table sports such as badminton, padel and squash name their court and carry no team note, because nobody is looking for an opponent on a badminton court.

The tool offers ten sports: cricket, football, badminton, pickleball, padel, tennis, basketball, table tennis, squash and volleyball. Each sport has its own scene pictures for the poster background, and no two sports share one. Cricket has two, Stadium and Box cricket. The other nine have one each, and Classic, the plain Yuvo design, is the default for every sport.

What happens to a slot that has already passed?

A slot has a date, a time, who it is for and an optional price, and one poster holds up to five. In place of a clock time an owner can pick a name, Morning, Afternoon, Day-Night or Night, and the poster prints that name.

A slot added with a date belongs to that date. If it has already started, the poster leaves it out and does not move it to next week. A slot with no date, such as one saved before we added dates, repeats every week, so a 6 AM slot typed at noon lands on next week's 6 AM.

We chose to drop a passed slot instead of moving it. A poster that shows a slot that is gone costs the next captain's trust, and a shorter poster costs nothing.

What does the tool remember, and what does it print?

Everything an owner types stays in the browser on their own phone, in the page's own storage. There is no account, so the next poster opens as same as last time, with the dates moved on. The phone in the picture says it under the poster: Saved on this phone.

Every poster image prints a small line, Made free with Yuvo, and the WhatsApp message that goes with it ends with a Yuvo link. That link carries a tag, so we can count the visits that come from shared posters and see whether a poster brings anyone to Yuvo.

We also keep the examples safe. On 19 October we swapped the sample phone number in the tool and its share images for a masked one. We added a test that fails if a dialable Indian mobile number appears in the demo or tool sources.

What can it not do yet?

It makes a picture and nothing else. It does not post for you, take a booking, or know which of your slots are already booked, because you type them.

Yuvo for Venues is in beta, and its dashboard builds today's poster from the open slots on your calendar, using the look you saved in the free tool. Its booking page gives a captain a way to ask for a slot from the poster. Filling slots automatically, with no typing at all, is Coming soon.
